Simione Named 2008 MS Corporate Achiever
A resident of Orange, Conn., Simione received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at Boston College in 1963. Simione has been at Simione Consultants LLC, 4130 Whitney Ave. in Hamden, Conn., for more than 40 years.
“I chose to join the National MS Society in the fight against MS because this past year my niece, Jennifer Simione Testa, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis,” said Simione. “Since Jennifer is very near and dear to my heart I felt I needed to come up with a way to help. Through fundraising I felt I could help make a difference in Jennifer’s life, as well as others who suffer from the effects of multiple sclerosis. It is with pride and commitment I join the fight against multiple sclerosis.”
Simione is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the National Health Lawyers Association. Simione serves as chairman of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice, Home Health & Hospice Financial Manager’s Association — Advisory Board. He is a current member of the Board of Directors for the National Association for Home Care & Hospice and a current member of Managed Care Task Force for the National Association for Home Care & Hospice. In 1995 Simione received the “Foundations Fellow” award for the Foundation for Hospice and Home Care.
Established by the Connecticut Chapter in 2000, MS Corporate Achievers is a recognition program honoring some of Connecticut’s most influential leaders while at the same time raising critically needed funds to ensure ongoing scientific research and the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the chapter to the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents diagnosed with MS. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by an advisory council board for making outstanding contributions to business, civic and cultural enrichment.
Through participation, honorees join an elite leadership network sharing a commitment to making Connecticut a better place in which to live. Since 2000 honorees have raised nearly $550,000 to help end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
“Mr. Simione is truly an effective leader throughout his community,” said Lisa Gerrol, Connecticut Chapter president and chief professional officer. “He is committed to raising funds in the fight against MS and devoted to elevating life within the New Haven region, his hometown of Orange and the state.”
