Gatorwash Teams Up To Support Worthy Cause.
And That Ain’t No Croc!

By Samantha Harrigan, Public Relations Intern

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. Gatorwash Connecticut’s only XP Touchless Car Wash System™ is teaming up with Team bkm captain Jason Perrone to help support the 2007 bkm/Steelcase MS Bike Tour, this year presented by SAAB. The daylong carwash event, to be held Saturday, May 26, will raise funds to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS), a potentially debilitating disease.

“It’s very important to raise funds to help stop MS,” said Perrone, who has been involved with the MS bike tour and Team bkm for seven years. “Gatorwash is passionate about its community, and I knew Gatorwash would be eager to team up in support of those in the region battling this disease.”

More than 6,000 Connecticut residents are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown, and there currently is no cure. Funds raised through National MS Society, Greater Connecticut Chapter events, such as the bkm/Steelcase MS Bike Tour, ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cure and provide for the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the chapter to those in the state living with MS.

The benefit car wash will be held Saturday, May 26, and is open to the public. Carwash packages range from $6 to $10. Twenty-five percent of all car wash and gift card proceeds collected during the day will be donated to support Team bkm for this year’s MS bike tour. The Greater Connecticut Chapter will be present, providing information on MS, collecting donations, and registering participants for the bike tour event from noon to 4 p.m.

Gatorwash, established in 2005, is the only service of its kind open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is a gator-theme car wash, featuring high speed, high-powered equipment, and is located at 1715 Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield, Conn. The registration fee for the bkm/Steelcase Bike Tour, presented by SAAB, is $35. There is a $125 fundraising minimum per rider. The bike tour will take place Sunday, June 3, at 5 Griffin Center in Windsor, Conn. For more information about the tour visit www.ctfightsms.org or call (860) 714-BIKE (2453).
