NextMedia Named 2006 Media Partner Of The Year

HARTFORD, Conn. The National MS Society, Greater Connecticut Chapter named at its recent Annual Meeting NextMedia Group, Inc., the 2006 Media Partner of the Year. The award ceremony and annual meeting was held at the Hartford Marriott in Rocky Hill, Conn., on Sunday, March 4. North Haven native Tom Novinsky, senior account executive, and Hamden resident Curt Pardee, graphic artist, attended and accepted the award on behalf of NextMedia and its Berlin, Conn., offices, which are led under the direction of Charles Ghione, general manager.

“NextMedia is a longtime partner and supporter,” said Karen E. Butler, vice president of communications. “In 2006, the chapter launched an ad campaign to localize the fight against MS and illustrate in a compelling manner the many faces of a very unpredictable and baffling disease. Outdoor advertising was s crucial component to the success of that campaign. Mr. Novinsky and NextMedia went the extra mile to help the chapter effectively raise awareness and promote key initiatives statewide.”

NextMedia, founded in 1999, is a diversified out-of-home media company headquartered in Denver, Colo. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, NextMedia owns and operates radio stations in numerous markets throughout the United States as well as outdoor bulletin and poster advertising displays in a number of U.S. markets, including Connecticut.

“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Sarah Roberson, NextMedia sales manager. “We look forward to working with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Connecticut Chapter for many more years to come.”

There are more than 6,000 Connecticut residents diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), an oftentimes debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown, and, as a result, there currently is no cure for MS. Funds raised through chapter events, such as those promoted through billboard advertising, ensure the continuation of scientific research to find a cure and provide for vital programs and services offered by the chapter to Connecticut residents diagnosed with MS.
