Gales Ferry Resident Recognized for Excellence In Development Volunteerism

GALES FERRY, Conn. The National MS Society, Greater Connecticut Chapter awarded at its recent annual meeting recognized Gales Ferry, Conn., resident Wendy Gustaval for her Excellence in Development Volunteerism. The award ceremony and annual meeting was held at the Hartford Marriott in Rocky Hill, Conn., on Sunday, March 4.

“Ms. Gustaval partnered with the chapter to help with the MS Walk and Mohegan Sun MS Bike Tour events,” said Nicole Marohn, chapter associate vice president. “She is extremely hard working and went above and beyond for our chapter events, and she was always available to help. Ms. Gustaval’s willingness to help was an important part of our event success.”

There are more than 6,000 Connecticut residents diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), an oftentimes debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown, and, as a result, there currently is no cure for MS.

Funds raised through chapter events, such as the upcoming 2007 Travelers MS Walk, presented by UnitedHealth Group, in April, ensure the continuation of scientific research to find a cure and provide for vital programs and services offered by the chapter to Connecticut residents diagnosed with MS.
